Grandma’s Cherry Ribbon Dessert

My grandma loved making this dessert when I was a kid, and I loved eating it! This recipe is great with fresh cherries, but can also be made with frozen ones if you want to save it for your off-season cravings!

Ingredients (Layer #1):

  • 1/2 cup butter

  • 1 1/4 cup AP flour

  • 2 tablespoon sugar

Layer #2:

  • 2 cup scalded milk, cooled

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/3 cup sifted flour

  • 2/3 cup sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoon butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Layer #3:

  • 1 quart frozen or fresh Interwater Farms cherries, pitted

  • 3 tablespoon cornstarch

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Directions (Layer #1):

Mix butter, flour and sugar to dough consistency and spread in bottom of 8x8 inch pan. Bake at 375F for ten minutes and let cool.

Layer #2:

Combine milk, eggs, flour, sugar, salt, butter, and vanilla and cook until pudding consistency. Cool and spread on top of cooled layer #1.

Layer #3:

Cook cherries, cornstarch, sugar, and lemon juice until thick. Cool. Spread over topp of pudding layer.

Allow to set for several hours in refridgerator before serving.

Enjoy!
